| Next week the Williams family begins another journey. On Monday we will be moving to Augusta, Maine, to be the employees-in-charge of The Salvation Army. Yesterday was Abby's Farewell Party at day care. Here are some pictures:

| I am sitting here at the computer listening to Abby scream, the reason...well let me take you back a little over 2 years ago. Before she was born Chris and I decided that we did not want her to have a pacifier. A few days after she was born we changed our minds. And from there the journey of the pacifier. She couldn't live without it, everywhere she went it went with her. She had one attached to her at all times. When she started day care last October we decided she would only have it a nap times and night time when she went to bed, and that worked out well.
Recently we thought it was time to give it up. Two nights ago we put her to bed without her "fire" (that's what she called them) and for 20 minutes we listened to her cry. Finally Chris went in and gave her one, she was out in 2 seconds. Yesterday afternoon Chris took one of her fires and cut it and left it out for her to find - the look of devastation showed on her face. We felt the sadness she felt. We told her it was broken and she needed to throw it away - "bye bye fire," she said. Last night we put her to bed without one, again the screaming started. After 20 - 30 minutes Chris went in, she just wanted "up" (to be held). He picked her up and I went in and said "do you want to lay in bed with mommy?" She went right to me and laid in our bed. It took some time and no screaming, but eventually she fell asleep. At almost 10:30 I put her back in bed. First night with no fire! So now I sit her and it is past her nap time: it is 3:20 and she usually naps at 12:30-1:00 and I hear her crying. I again cut one of her pacifiers and she threw it away before her nap and the look of devastation again went across her face. I pray that she will fall asleep soon. Her new thing when she sleeps too is her Dale, Jr pillow - she loves having it with her. Wish us luck in trying to put out the fire!! | | |
